ACT MOTORCYCLE CLUB CANBERRA

The ACT Motorcycle Club has operated at Fairbairn Park since 1973. We are a not-for-profit association run by volunteers to provide safe and controlled access to Motocross and Dirt Track facilities.

The ACT Motorcycle Club holds regular race meetings, Ride Park Days (social riding), and training programs for club members and visitors. These are conducted on our nationally accredited Motocross and Dirt Tracks and licensed Ride Park Australia tracks.

Our goal is to be the preferred place to race for local riders. With this goal in mind, the club continues to improve our tracks and facilities while conducting annual multi-round Motocross and Dirt Track Club Championships. In addition, we seek to host open, state, and national events, where locals can test themselves against the best riders from across the country in their own backyard.

HOW DO I BECOME A CLUB MEMBER ?

The club offers Junior, Senior and Family memberships. As a club member you will save on entry fees to Ride Park Days and Club day race meetings. Memberships are managed online at Ridernet https://osm-ma.omnisportsmanagement.com/

WHAT DO I NEED TO START RACING ?

You need to obtain a Motorcycling Australia Competition licence, or a non-competition licence for Nippers. Licensing details can be found at Home – Motorcycling NSW

HOW DOES THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP WORK ?

Each year the club runs a MX and a DT club championship. To win the club championship in a particular race class you must compete in a minimum of 75% of the club championship rounds for that discipline. Points are awarded for each race and each round of the championship.

At the completion of the club championship the MX and DT committees, at their discretion, may award on junior and one senior rider in each discipline –

Most Improved Rider – this is judged on the improvement in racing and position in the championship point score over the previous year.

Highest Point Scorer – is awarded to the rider that has accumulated the most championship points in any once race class.

Rider of the Year – this award will consider the rider’s position in the club championship and the level of competition in that class, sportsmanship, and results at other club, open, state and national meetings.

CAN ANYONE RIDE AT A RIDE PARK DAY?

Almost anyone, you must be 4 years of age or older, have your own motorcycle and safety gear. A minimum of helmet, goggles, gloves, long pants, long sleeve shirt and boots that cover your ankles are required. Body armour is also recommended for juniors. You do not need to be a club member and you do not need a licence.

CAN I VOLUNTEER TO HELP OUT?

Absolutely. There are many ways you can help out at your club regardless of how many hours you might be able to commit. You may wish to be a race or ride park day official, assist with track or facilities maintenance, help in the canteen, do some gardening, clean the toilets or assist with lap scoring, flagging or starting on race days. Without volunteers we don’t exist.

POLICY AND FORMS

BIKES ON TRACK

The ACT Motorcycle Club wants to be a good neighbour and will abide by EPA noise restrictions. This means no motorcycle will be started at the facility between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00am on any day.

Any bike found to exceed local EPA noise restrictions of 90dBA during a 30 meter ride by assessment will be required to reduce the noise output of the machine before continuing to ride.

No motorcycle will be ridden at the facility unless the relevant track licence, ride, race or coaching permit and relevant insurance is in place.

All riders have an obligation to attend sign on, complete the appropriate paperwork and pay fees prior to riding.

Breaches may expose the club and/or the rider to legal liability. As a result the club may take disciplinary action against those that breach these rules.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Motorcycling Australia has a detailed policy which provides practical guidance about using social media and other forms of electronic communication and sets out a framework for acceptable online behaviour.

The policy covers communication by those involved in motorcycle sport, including clubs and club members. You should be familiar with the policy to ensure you communicate appropriately and do not leave yourself open to disciplinary action by the ACT Motorcycle Club or Motorcycling Australia.
