It started as most New Zealand businesses did. Back in 1994, a keen motorcyclist thought his preferred method of transport is actually a pretty good way to see the best of what New Zealand has to offer. That was the start of New Zealand Motorcycle Rentals and Tours as it is today – a tourism operation which retains the enthusiasm for motorcycling combined with the professionalism expected by international visitors to New Zealand.

Formed in 1994 by Gordon Lidgard and business partner Darren Tonar. Both had been involved in the motorcycle industry for a long period of time and saw a market opportunity that was not being fulfilled.

“We knew New Zealand needed something like this because it’s the perfect destination for a motorcycling holiday. We wanted to make the whole process of hiring a motorcycle easy for the customer.”

From the humble early days of having a handful of Yamaha motorcycles, New Zealand Motorcycle Rentals and Tours now has a fleet in excess of 30 late model motorcycles, counting among them BMWs, Suzukis, Hondas and Yamahas, all professionally maintained and well presented.
